beading


While we were with the ladies  in Kwanyuswa Rowan showed the a few images of the bead work. As part of his survey he asked the ladies if they were famelier with any of the images. he already knew where the beads were from and he just wanted to know if the ladies from Kwanyuswa knew the beads from Kwanyuswa, which was a huge failer.

There is a few jewellery equipment in Kwanyuswa. They have three jewelers bench with no pegs, two pending motors that are not set up properly, they have gas and they torches, they don't have enough tools, there is one roller and one vice which haven't been oiled and is rusting, they don't have electricity so there is no light in there workshop and in their workshop and they realier on natural light which they don't have enough of, they also have three kilns which have never been used before.

These are some of the beads made by the ladies at Simunye. They tought me how to make the beads and I got top make a few beads and it was interesting.

I went to Kwanyuswa on Friday and we were at a community jewellery workshop called Simunye Hand Crafted and Jewellery Co-opporative. They make glass beads and make jewellery from them
